Valentia Island was at one time the ancestral home to the knights of Kerry and is located in one of Ireland’s most beautiful settings in Knightstown overlooking Valentia harbour. It is an ideal place to explore the beauty and serenity of Valentia Island. There are many things to do here whether you are interested in fishing, water sports or hill walking to name a few. The Royal Valentia is a family run business and the new owners are determined to return the Royal to its former glory. The atmosphere in the Royal is warm, friendly and welcoming. The accommodation consists of 22 rooms, the majority of which are en-suite. We are currently upgrading our rooms and offer great value for couples, groups and family rooms alike.

The bar is both cosy and spacious and is a relaxing place for people in the evening, where they can enjoy a quiet drink or have a nice meal. Our chef can prepare seafood caught locally or you can enjoy our home made food at a reasonable price. Children are always welcome and can amuse themselves safely in our play area.

A quick chat to the locals in our bar will reveal a wealth of history in the town and on the island. Knightstown is just 640 metres, from the mainland by ferry. The Dining Room and Bar in the Royal Valentia offers panoramic views of the harbour and the spectacular mountains beyond. The idyllic setting of Valentia island, with its renowned "peace, comfort and rest", has long appealed to the discerning traveler.

Most suites look out onto the estuary and the sprawling mountains to the rear offer a spectacular and inspiring vista.
